HONOLULU (AP) - Strong wind and rain knocked out power to hundreds of customers on Oahu over the weekend but utility officials say repairs restored electricity to most customers.
Hawaiian Electric Companies says about 300 customers lost power Saturday night in Laie.
Customers said that the outage followed a lightning strike on a pole along Kamehameha Highway.
The downed pole had pulled down several other poles.
Kamaile Nihipali works at the Polynesian Cultural Center and says performers in one section of the show were dancing in the dark.
Power was restored at about 7:40 Sunday morning.
A broken pole Sunday in Haleiwa knocked out power near Jameson's By the Sea restaurant.
HECO says about 1,900 customers lost power at about 2 p.m. Sunday in Waialae. Power was restored about two hours later.
