Cortez wins conference special teams honor
Valley City (N.D.) State junior kicker Thomas Cortez, a St. Anthony High School graduate, was named the North Star Athletic Association special teams player of the week for his performance in Saturday's 37-12 home victory over Mayville (N.D.) State, which clinched a share of the conference championship.
Cortez converted four of five extra-point kicks, made a 27-yard field goal and averaged 51.0 yards on seven kickoffs.
Central East Maui registration on Nov. 23
Central East Maui Little League will conduct registration from noon to 4 p.m. on Nov. 23 at War Memorial Field 1 in Wailuku.
The fee is $65 for youths 4-8 years old, and $75 for ages 9-12. Each child must have a birth certificate copy and three proof of residency documents.
Registration forms are available at Sports Authority in the Maui Marketplace in Kahului.

Kamalani records ace on No. 14 at Pukalani
David Kamalani of Kula had a hole-in-one Thursday at Pukalani Country Club.
Kamalani used a 3-hybrid to ace the 133-yard No. 14 hole.
The feat was witnessed by Warren Higa, Curtis Lee and Les Takahashi.
