Brownridge to speak at Jan. 20 service
The Rev. Walter Brownridge will be the keynote speaker for Faith Action for Community Equity's upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Day Interfaith Service.
The service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 20 at Christ the King Church in Kahului.
Brownridge is dean of the St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral on Oahu and has decades of experience working for social justice throughout the United States and South Africa, where he served as a canon at St. George's Cathedral in Cape Town and worked closely with Bishop Desmond Tutu, according to an announcement.
The Martin Luther King Day Interfaith Service will celebrate the life of King and his strong commitment to racial and economic justice.
The planning committee chairman of the event, the Rev. Bill Albinger, rector of Holy Innocents Church in Lahaina, expects more than 200 people to attend.

Seniors to be recognized at Nov. 24 event
Christ the King Church will recognize its senior parishioners during a Feast Day event from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 24 in the church hall.
The event will feature entertainment, games, a free blood pressure check, food and drinks.
The church is at 20 W. Wakea Ave. in Kahului.
Classes on Judaism and the Torah offered
Rabbi Larry Winer and Gan Eden Chavurah will offer introduction to Judaism and Torah discussion classes beginning 10 a.m. Monday in the Lahaina United Methodist Church Social Hall.
The church is at 988 Front St. All are welcome.
