Parents of students attending Lahainaluna High School are invited to participate in an open house from 5:45-7:30 p.m. Thursday in Hale Pa'ina, the school cafeteria.
Attendees will have six 10-minute sessions to select at their leisure.
Representatives from curriculum departments and career pathways will be on hand to share information about course offerings.
Also scheduled will be information on a number of new courses being offered next year, including Lahainaluna High School's Academy of Network Engineering and Cybersecurity. In partnership with the National Academy Foundation and University of Hawaii Maui College, this new academy will offer courses for students in computer hardware, operating systems, computer networks, computer electronics, computer math, systems administration and computer security.
This new academy will also participate in national CyberPatriot competitions.
The focus of the open house is to provide information on course offerings and expectations. Parents who wish to discuss a child's progress need to arrange a teacher conference with the child's grade-level counselor. Copies of mid-second quarter progress reports are scheduled to be distributed during the evening.
