HONOLULU - The University of Hawaii football team was unable to generate its first win of the season on Saturday, squandering a fourth-quarter lead and then losing 28-21 in overtime to San Diego State at Aloha Stadium.

Adam Muema rushed for 163 yards for the Aztecs, and scored on a 2-yard touchdown in overtime.

San Diego State (6-4, 5-1 Mountain West) tied the score with 2 minutes, 34 seconds to play in regulation on a 14-yard touchdown run by Chad Young.

The Rainbow Warriors (0-10, 0-7) had a chance to win on the final play of the fourth quarter, but Taylor Graham's deep pass fell incomplete.

The Aztecs started the extra period on offense and needed just three plays - all runs by Muema - to go in front.

Hawaii gave up a second-down sack on its ensuing drive, followed by a pair of incomplete passes.

San Diego State rushed for 234 yards, and quarterback Quinn Kahler completed 17 of 34 passes for 265 yards with a touchdown to Colin Lockett, who finished with four catches for 106 yards. Josh Gavert led the defensive effort with 11 tackles and an interception.

The Rainbow Warriors' Joey Iosefa carried a school-record 37 times for 150 yards and scored two touchdowns, including an 8-yarder with 9:42 left in regulation that gave UH a 21-14 lead.

Schroeder was 18-of-36 for 194 yards. Brendan Daley made a team-high 11 tackles.

San Diego State leads the all-time series over UH 17-9-2.
