The La'a Kea Foundation on Maui will receive a $25,000 solar energy system as the winner of Enphase Energy Inc.'s Mahalo Hawaii Facebook contest.
The Mahalo Hawaii video contest celebrates Enphase's nearing its 25,000th system installation in Hawaii. The contest awarded a solar system to a nonprofit organization with the most votes for its video. The contest, exclusively for Hawaii, highlighted 16 different nonprofit organizations hoping to add the benefits of solar power to their organization.
La'a Kea is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing meaningful work opportunities and residential options for adults with autism and intellectual disabilities on its 12-acre organic farm in upper Paia, a news release said.
FILIPINO FOOD. Bautista Filipino Kitchen has opened in the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center's food court.
The Queen Ka'ahumanu Center Bautista is the chain's first location on the Neighbor Islands, a news release said. The restaurant currently has three locations on Oahu and has been operating for more than 27 years in Hawaii.
Corporate President Maria Bautista-Marcus said the menu on Maui features Filipino foods with a "Euro" twist and includes dishes, such as "paella" and a variety of pastries.
LESS PAPER. Waiver Saver LLC, a software development company in Lahaina, is focusing on ways to help businesses reduce the volume of paper they use daily.
The company's first release, Waiver Saver, is an iPad application that allows activity-style businesses to store their liability waivers digitally, instead of relying on pen and paper.
The company plans to release other similar applications over the next year, each focused on a different business function unique to Hawaii businesses.

BIG CONTRACT. Maui-based WooHawaii (Windows of Opportunity Hawaii) Tutoring beat out more than 30,000 other U.S. educational services companies recently to become the sole recipient of a highly coveted international fundraising contract, a news release said.
Under the agreement, the full-service academic tutoring and home schooling agency will expand its Hawaii-based services to include the initial opening of 77 privately owned and operated centers in the U.S, the news release added.
