Annual Chanukah Party to be held Dec. 1
The Jewish Congregation of Maui will hold its Annual Community Chanukah Party at Beit Shalom synagogue from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1.
The evening will feature a candlelighting ceremony, traditional dinner, communal singing, games and prizes. Disc jockey Dan Weisman will provide music and entertainment.
Door prizes and children's gift bags will be presented, and items from the Judaica Store will be available for purchase.
Chanukah begins at sunset Wednesday. It will be celebrated with Thanksgiving for the first time since 1888.

Thanksgiving Day Mass planned in Kihei
St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kihei will celebrate Mass at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.
Donations of personal hygiene items will be collected for A Cup of Cold Water, the outreach ministry of the Episcopal churches on Maui. Items to be collected include travel-size toothpaste and toothbrushes, shampoo, soap, hand sanitizer, feminine hygiene products, rubber slippers and Band-Aids.
Thanksgiving Hoike set for Sunday
Instead of its usual morning service, Wailuku Union Church will have a Thanksgiving Hoike at 4 p.m. Sunday.
People can participate in the worship service by sharing what they are thankful for. A Thanksgiving potluck in Dodge Hall will follow the service.
Church announces Thanksgiving service
The First Church of Christ, Science church will hold a Thanksgiving Day service at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The one-hour service will include the reading of a Bible lesson and time for congregation members to speak about their blessings throughout the year.
The church is located at 160 W. Kamehameha Ave. in Kahului. Child care will be provided for preschoolers.
