Health exchange has new head

HONOLULU (AP) - An administration official for Gov. Neil Abercrombie has taken over as head of Hawaii's health insurance exchange after its previous executive director resigned.

Board President Sherry Menor-McNamara of the Hawaii Health Exchange says Tom Matsuda took over this week for Coral Andrews, who resigned.

Andrews said previously that she was leaving for personal reasons and was not asked to leave, despite struggles for the exchange as it launches.

Officials say fewer than 580 people have bought insurance under the exchange as of Friday. Open enrollment launched nationwide in October but was delayed two weeks because of problems with the website at the heart of the online marketplace.
