Sinisa Zarkovic had 22 kills for the University of Hawaii men's volleyball team on Friday in a 25-20, 22-25, 26-24, 25-21 victory over Penn State in an Outrigger Invitational match at the Stan Sheriff Center in Wailuku.
Jace Olsen added 15 kills for the Rainbow Warriors (2-0), ranked 14th in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Zarkovic also had six digs, and finished with a .421 hitting percentage. Olsen had a .400 percentage.
Nick West had nine kills for UH, and Brook Sedore had eight.
Nick Goodell had 19 kills and a .455 hitting percentage for the Nittany Lions (0-2). Aaron Russell had 16 kills.
Hawaii can earn its seventh Outrigger title, and first since 2010, with a victory over No. 7 UCLA today. The Bruins defeated 12th-ranked Ohio State 25-14, 25-23, 25-21 in Friday's first match. Robart Page had 12 kills for UCLA (2-1), which has won the Outrigger crown eight times. The Buckeyes (0-2) got nine kills from Andrew Lutz.
