Interfaith service in honor of King set
Faith Action for Community Equity Maui will host an interfaith service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day at 6 p.m. Monday at Christ the King Church in Kahului.
Speakers at this year's service include the Rev. Adondee Arellano of Christ the King, the Rev. William Albinger of Holy Innocents and the Rev. Walter Brownridge, dean of St. Andrew's Cathedral on Oahu. Marshallese and Chuukese choirs will perform.
This event is free and open to the public.

Feb. 13 concert to benefit Camp Agape
Hope Chapel will host a benefit concert Feb. 13 by the Katinas, with guest artist Tiffany Thurston, to raise money for Camp Agape on Maui, a camping experience for children of incarcerated parents.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Hope Chapel auditorium at 300 E. Welakahao Road in Kihei.

World Religion Day event Sunday
World Religion Day will be celebrated beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Bahai Center in Makawao.
The event was founded by the Bahais of the United States in 1950. It is an interfaith devotion of the oneness of religion and spiritual unity of all religions, based on one divine source, according to an announcement.
Devotion will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with fellowship to follow.

Church names new senior pastor
Calvary Chapel South Maui has selected Dr. Kirk Milhoan as its new senior pastor, according to an announcement.
Milhoan is leaving his pediatric cardiology practice in San Antonio, Texas, to become a pastor on Maui, according to the announcement.
Milhoan and his wife, Kim, started the nonprofit For Hearts and Souls in 2001. The organization sends medical teams to Third World countries to screen children for heart defects and perform life-saving surgeries, according to the announcement.
According to the church, Milhoan will begin "Faith For Thinkers," an open lecture series exploring faith and science.
In addition, Milhoan plans to start a free pediatric cardiology clinic on Maui. And, he and his wife - also a medical doctor - will continue to lead For Hearts and Souls and to travel the world helping children with heart defects.
Calvary Chapel South Maui is a nondenominational Christian church. Founded in 2001, church members meet at the Maui Lu.
