Kamehameha Maui takes national cheerleading crown

Ashlee Sawai (left) is supported by Chaston Abut, Rachel Kaulupali and Jessica Walker, and Moana Astronomo (right) is supported by Hannah Patrick and Halia Kekuewa, during Kamehameha Schools Maui’s title-winning performance on Sunday in the small coed advanced division in the National Cheerleaders Association Senior and Junior High School National Championships at the Dallas Convention Center. The team, which also included Kayla Sniffen, Jocelyn Aipa, Acacia Coloma-Mariano and Kalea Borling, finished with a score of 97.88, leading a top-two sweep by Hawaii schools — Radford was second with 97.14 points.
