Subaru Hawaii announced that its "Share the Love" sales event raised $7,500 for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Maui.
A check presentation was held Monday at Island Subaru in Kahului.
The "Share the Love" event donated $250 for every new vehicle sold by Subaru Hawaii dealers from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31. In total, the "Share the Love" event raised $30,000 in support of four nonprofits: $7,500 for Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii, $7,500 for American Red Cross - Hawaii State Chapter, $7,500 for SPCA Maui and $7,500 for Hawaii Island Humane Society. Members of the public also had an opportunity to vote for their favorite participating nonprofit organization on Subaru Hawaii's Facebook page. At the end of the sales event period Hawaii Island Humane Society was the winner with 55 percent of all the votes, earning that group an additional $5,000.
