Scenic lookout at Honolua Bay

February 5, 2014
The Maui News
A bluff overlooking Honolua Bay provides an ideal spot to take in the beauty of the Honolua-Mokulei‘a Bay Marine Life Conservation District last month. The conservation district extends from the high-water mark seaward to a line from Alaelae to Kalaepiha points and then to a point at the northwestern corner of Honolua Bay. Honolua Stream carries varying amounts of silt into the bay, which can make inshore waters murky during rainy periods. Recently, the state issued a brown-water warning for the area because of heavy rains that made swimming or snorkeling in the bay ill-advised.
