The end of the best day kayaking

February 6, 2014
The Maui News
Eileen and Richard Woodbury of Traverse City, Mich., paddle to shore at Makena Landing on Tuesday after a breathtaking morning kayak excursion with their daughter, Alicia, and her partner, Paul Bergelin. “Best kayaking day we have ever had in our lives,” Eileen Woodbury said. She said that after they paddled out they found a place to sit and relax and before they knew it they were surrounded by whales. Richard Woodbury said within a 200-yard radius they had three mother-and-calf pairs lounging and several male escorts cavorting. They said the highlight was when one mother whale slowly surfaced to lift her baby from the water with her head.
