Recent rains don’t dampen spirit

February 8, 2014
The Maui News
Cheryl Bernasi of Manitoba, Canada, walks past a large puddle in the parking lot at Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve earlier this week. She said the recent rains were no problem compared to the minus-40-degree temperatures and waist-high snow she and her husband left behind in Canada. The National Weather Service predicted partly sunny skies and scattered showers today in windward and mauka areas and isolated rain in leeward regions. High temperatures should range from 78 to 83 degrees, with overnight lows of 67 to 72. Winds should blow out of the northeast around 15 mph this morning and shift out of the east this evening. Similar weather can be expected into early next week.
