Visitors elevated by spectacular view

February 13, 2014
The Maui News
With Lanai visible through the clouds and vog Monday afternoon, visitors to Haleakala National Park take in the views near the mountain’s 10,023-foot summit. Many visitors to the park found themselves stranded for hours Monday while making their way down Haleakala Crater Road. The road was closed near Mile Marker 3 following a paragliding accident that claimed the life of 34-year-old Paul J. MacDonald of Haiku.
