The public hearing on proposed rule amendments for the Molokai Planning Commission has been postponed to March 27.
The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. in the Department of Accounting and General Services Conference Room at 45 Makaena Place, Phase I in Kaunakakai.
The rule amendments are meant to provide for greater clarity and consistency throughout the rules, streamline the process for enforcement of special management areas and shoreline violations, allow the commission to waive review of proposed SMA exemptions and allow the commission to enforce permit conditions and approvals.
The meeting was originally scheduled for March 12 but was postponed because rule amendments published in The Maui News on Feb. 10 contained typographical errors that did not correctly identify the changed rules, department officials said.
A correct copy of the proposed rule amendments can be found online at mauicounty.gov (follow links for Planning Department and Legislation - Proposed).
The document also may be viewed from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Department of Planning - Current Planning Division office at One Main Plaza, 2200 Main St., Suite 619 in Wailuku, or at the Department of Planning Molokai office at the Mitchell Pauole Center, 95 Ainoa St. in Kaunakakai.
