Whales swim around in imaginations

March 6, 2014
The Maui News

FIRST PHOTO: Mark Jeffers, director and performer from Kauai's Storybook Theatre, gives students and teachers from Makawao Hongwanji Preschool an inside and outside look at a humpback whale and her baby Wednesday morning in Pukalani. Jeffers said the 35-minute presentation introduces children to whale anatomy and behavior and also provides a brief history of whales in the Hawaiian Islands. "For preschool children, it is a great experience to have them more excited about learning about humpback whales," Jeffers said. "We take a guided fantasy as she swims around the island in their imagination."
