Rainbow Warriors suffer first home defeat in eight matches

The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team had its seven-match home winning streak end Friday with a 22-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-14 loss to UC Irvine at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

The Rainbow Warriors (11-7, 9-6 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation), who shared the No. 8 ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, had a .202 hitting percentage in the final three sets, including .042 in the last.

Brook Sedore had 13 kills for UH. Jace Olsen added 11.

Scott Kevorken had 12 kills for Irvine (12-8, 9-7), which hit .345. Connor Hughes and Jeremy Dejno each finished with 11 kills.

The teams are scheduled to meet again Sunday.
