The Maui News

The University of Hawaii women's basketball team accepted a spot in the Women's National Invitational Tournament on Monday, and will play on the road against Washington in the first round on Friday. A game time is to be announced today.

The winner will face Pacific or Oregon - the second round is scheduled for Saturday to March 25.

Hawaii (17-13) is in the WNIT for the second straight year, and eighth time overall.

The Rainbow Wahine's top scorer and rebounder this season, Kamilah Jackson, played on Friday in a Big West tournament semifinal loss to Cal Poly, after a seven-game absence caused by a foot injury. She did not score in 18 minutes of play.

Jackson is averaging 14.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

Kelsey Plum is the top scorer for the Huskies (17-13) this season, averaging 20.8 points.
