It was a wet Friday on Maui

A car drives through one of the many puddles that accumulated in large divots on Vevau Street on Friday afternoon in Kahului. Heavy morning rains triggered a flash-flood advisory that was canceled a few hours later. In the early afternoon, the state Department of Health issued a brown water advisory for Honokahua Bay in West Maui because of heavy rains. People were advised to stay out of muddy coastal waters because they may be contaminated by flood debris. Today through Monday, the National Weather Service predicts mostly cloudy skies with occasional early-morning and night showers in windward and mauka areas. Leeward areas can expect isolated showers. At Puu Kukui in the West Maui Mountains, 2.62 inches of rain fell in the 24-hour period ending at 5 p.m. Friday.
