Lerback places sixth at Noosa Festival
Lahainaluna High School senior Sierra Lerback placed sixth in the junior women's division of the Noosa Festival of Surfing that took place March 9-15 in Queensland, Australia.
Lerback got through two heats to reach the final. Her top wave score was a 15.75 out of 20, for first place in her second heat.
Campbell named Kapalua tennis director
Steve Campbell has been named the Kapalua Tennis director of tennis, the facility announced Wednesday.
Campbell was most recently the coach of the boys team at Hawaii Preparatory Academy and director of the Rutgers Tennis Center on the Big Island.
Youth basketball registration underway
Registration for the Maui Youth Basketball League, for ages 6-15, will take place until April 28.
The registration fee is $20, and applications are available at all Minit Stop locations on Maui. Games are scheduled for June 1-July 13.
The league is also seeking coaches, referees, scorekeepers and administrators.

Maui Rugby Org will conduct a referee certification clinic April 2 and host a Maui 7s event April 3-5, both at Keopuolani Park in Wailuku.

Paradise Speedway to host mud bog event
Paradise Speedway Maui in Puunene will conduct a mud bog event on April 13, starting at 9 a.m.
Spectator admission will cost $12 for adults and $5 for youths 6-12, with no charge for anyone 5 and under.

Morey Challenge slated for April 19
The Morey Challenge, an untimed shoreline and aquatic obstacle course event, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on April 19 at Big Beach in Makena.
Individuals and teams can take part in the event. Prizes are available.
The entry fees are $15 for ages 5-12, $25 for ages 13-17 and $40 for ages 18 and above.
