Maui Paving LLC has begun work on two road resurfacing projects in Pukalani, according to an announcement from the contractor.
The $488,073 project calls for repaving more than 2,800 feet of Hololani Street and nearly 1,415 feet of Kumano Drive, according to Department of Public Works Deputy Director Rowena Dagdag-Andaya.
Work hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Aside from resurfacing the roadways, the project includes installing pavement markings and striping.
While the project is ongoing until August, motorists will be diverted around work areas, Dagdag-Andaya said.
In a state Department of Transportation roadway project in West Maui, Maui Master Builders will do pavement preventative maintenance on Honoapiilani Highway from Kaanapali Parkway to Honokowai, according to an announcement. The project is scheduled to begin Wednesday.
Work hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with traffic slowed and directed through work areas. The project includes resetting guardrails, adjusting manholes and survey monuments, cleaning culverts and reconstructing weakened pavement areas.
State officials did not respond to a request for information about the project's costs or an estimate on when it would be completed.
