I believe a newspaper should set a good example when it comes to correct grammar (among other things).
The front page of the March 28 issue held a glaring example of poor grammar: "Police officers on lookout for motorists that are distracted." Since motorists are humans, shouldn't it be "who"?
I think so, and the proofreader should too.
I do enjoy this newspaper daily.
