Creative entrepreneurship topic of talk
Rasmus Wiinstedt Tscheming, founder of Creative Business Cup - a global competition for entrepreneurs, will be the guest speaker at the noon meeting of the Kahului Rotary Club on Monday at Cafe O'Lei at the Dunes at Maui Lani.
Wiinstedt Tscheming will talk about strengthening creative entrepreneurship and startups in his home country of Denmark and in Europe. His presentation is intended to give inspiration to tackle similar challenges on Maui.

Easter weekend service trip in crater
The Friends of Haleakala National Park is seeking volunteers for a service project in Haleakala crater over the Easter weekend, Saturday through April 21.
Participants will hike into the crater and stay in Holua Cabin, working on protection of native plants while also enjoying the beauty of the crater wilderness.
The park entrance and cabin fees are waived for participants doing service work with the Friends of Haleakala National Park. A maximum of 12 people can be accommodated on each trip, and volunteers must be physically fit and able to hike in and out of the crater at altitude, carrying a share of the food as well as their personal items, including a sleeping bag, according to an announcement.
AARP, South Maui Chapter to meet
Pamela Norris of ICE Buddy Systems Inc. will be the guest speaker at the 10 a.m. Monday meeting of the South Maui Chapter of AARP in the activities room of Kalama Heights, 101 Kanani Road in Kihei.
ICE Buddy Systems designs, patents and markets emergency preparedness products that are multifunctional for both everyday use and emergency survival, according to an announcement.
Norris also will provide information about the InCareRX free prescription discount card. It will be given to everyone at the meeting.

Information sessions at charter school
Kihei Charter School will be hosting information sessions for its expanded K-5 programs for the 2014-15 school year at 5 p.m. Wednesday and May 8.
All sessions will take place at the middle school campus, 41 East Lipoa St.

Myanmar expedition subject of talk
Ron Harris will be speaking and showing photos from his recent expedition to Myanmar during the noon meeting of the Rotary Club of Kihei Wailea on Wednesday at Mulligans on the Blue.
The cost for lunch is $16. The public is welcome to attend.
School preparing for band concerts
St. Anthony Junior-Senior High School Band students are preparing for several concerts.
On Tuesday, the band will present its annual Spring Concert, featuring the jazz ensemble, wind ensemble and symphonic band at 7 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
On May 5, the Junior High Band Finale Concert, featuring beginning, concert and jazz bands will be at 5:30 p.m. in the St. Anthony Church Center.
A May 16 Aloha Concert will feature the symphonic band and wind ensemble at 5:30 p.m. in the St. Anthony Church Center.

Rotary club will tour new police station
A "Rotary on the Road" vocational tour will replace the regular morning meeting of the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise on Wednesday.
Club members and guests are invited to go on a tour of the new Maui Police Department Kihei Substation at 2201 Piilani Highway. The tour will start at 9 a.m.

Free 'Picnic for Poki' concert in Wailuku
Reiko Fukino and friends will be featured performers during this month's "Picnic for Poki" at Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
Fukino is a solo guitarist who performs Hawaiian and contemporary music.
This free concert is presented by Roselani Place and Ola Na Mele Productions. Coffee and fresh baked cookies will be provided by Roselani Place. The church is at 103 S. High St.
Soroptimist plan 'Dinner and Discussion'
Soroptimist International of West Maui will host its monthly "Dinner and Discussion" at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Paradise Grill in Kaanapali. The public is invited.
