Hagen was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he later died. He was wearing a helmet.
While investigating the crash, police closed Piilani Highway between Welakahao and Kanani roads. The closure brought traffic gridlock for motorists in the area.
The fatality marked Maui County's seventh traffic-related death this year, compared with four at the same time last year.
As of Saturday evening, police had not determined whether speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
