Rainbow Warriors win for first time in nine games

The University of Hawaii baseball team halted an eight-game losing streak Saturday with a 9-1 victory over Cal State Northridge in Northridge, Calif.

Marc Flores drove in three runs for the Rainbow Warriors (15-21, 3-9 Big West), hitting a two-run single and being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Stephen Ventimilia reached base four times and scored three runs, and Kaeo Aliviado was 2-for-4 with two runs.

The Matadors (15-24, 4-8) scored their run in the fifth, with Nicolas Osuna coming home when Ranny Lowe grounded into a double play.

Scott Squier (2-4) went seven inning four UH, allowing one run on seven hits.

John Salas (4-3) took the loss.

Hawaii is scheduled to play a nonconference road game against Southern California on Tuesday.
