Members of the Maui High School team, Riley Camp (from left), Thomas Sturm, Bryson Galapin and Chris Kim, participate in the academic competition of the 2014 National Science Bowl on Saturday in Washington, D.C. On Sunday, the Sabers defeated three teams in Round Robin competition — Wisconsin’s Appleton West High School, Montana’s Helena High School and Boise High School from Idaho — but did not advance to the double-elimination tournament. “All teams were well-prepared and all matches were competitive,” the team’s adviser, Ed Ginoza, said via email Sunday. “I’m proud of our students and their performance.”
