Assets School will offer its first summer school program at the Carden Academy of Maui from June 12 to July 11.
The Assets vision includes offering educational services to bright children with learning differences, including dyslexia, by providing model, integrated learning environments and professional outreach programs, according to a news release.
The program will be led by Jyo Bridgewater, K-8 principal at Assets School, an experienced educator who most recently partnered with Hawaii Learning Resource on the Big Island in creating a summer camp, now entering its fifth year, for students who have not yet found school success.
Informal assessments in vocabulary and phonemic skills, along with observational data, will be shared in an hourlong parent conference at the end of the session. A written follow-up summary will be sent by the end of July for each student.
