May 3, 2014
The Maui News
More than 300 students from across the state are participating in the Hawaii STEM Conference that began Friday and ends today at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Among the attendees are Courtney Tagay and Yoon Seo Orite of Iao School. The event connects students and educators with industry professionals from some of the world’s top tech companies. Among the speakers is Rosemary Wardley, senior geographic information systems cartographer in the maps division of the National Geographic Society. The event that began in 2009 and is sponsored by the Maui Economic Development Board’s Women in Technology Project gives students exposure to advanced in-demand technologies, the latest software training and real-world challenges in hands-on team competitions.
