Google set to help maximize businesses
Residents can learn how to grow their businesses from Google experts during a live broadcast event May 21.
Maui Business Resource Center and Hands Off Media are hosting the free event, held from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Maui County Business Resource Center at the Maui Mall. Speakers from Google will be broadcast live to discuss topics, including "Helping small businesses succeed on the Web," "Maximize your business online," and "Work and win with an agency."
Hands Off Media owners Tom Gaddis and Joseph Cicchino also will be available to answer questions afterwards.
Refreshments will be provided.

Matson set to increase fuel surcharge
HONOLULU - Matson Navigation Co. is raising its fuel surcharge by 3 percentage points for Hawaii service.
The shipping company said Thursday that the increase is effective June 8.
The company says fuel costs have continued to rise since announcing the last surcharge increase that went into effect in March. Matson says the company will continue to monitor fuel prices and adjust the surcharge accordingly.
Caregivers Maui offers in-home services
Caregivers Maui, an affiliate of Hale Makua Health Services, offers private-duty nursing, in-home care under the supervision of a registered nurse with caregivers available islandwide, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and is currently accepting clients.
Tony Krieg, chief executive officer of Hale Makua Health Services, said that Caregivers Maui will compliment the company's skilled care offered by its Home Health Care Agency.
He said that Hale Makua Health Services had been receiving calls from people inquiring about personal care, which Home Health Care Agency did not offer.
"Between the two companies, we are now able to provide the Maui community with a full continuum of quality health care services.
Hale Makua Health Services programs assist individuals in recovering from surgery, injury or illness, and Caregivers Maui provides in-home companion and caregiver services, Krieg said.
