Cooper, Podratz lead UH past UC Davis

The University of Hawaii baseball team scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and defeated UC Davis 2-1 on Friday in the opener of a three-game series in Davis, Calif.

Pinch hitter Trevor Podratz tripled home a run in the seventh for the Rainbow Warriors (20-28, 4-15 Big West), and scored on Stephen Ventimilia's infield hit.

The Aggies fell to 21-28 (5-14 Big West).

Matt Cooper (5-5) permitted one run in 7 1/3 innings for UH, and Scott Squier got the last three outs.

Harry Stanwyck (3-7) pitched a complete game for UC Davis.
