Buenconsejo's kickoff slated

Ka'ala Buenconsejo, a candidate for the Maui County Council's West Maui residency seat, will hold a campaign kickoff from 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 3 at the Lahaina Civic Center.

The free event will include food from Aloha Mixed Plate, music by Ikaika Blackburn and Friends, and door prizes.

Ige to be on Maui on Tuesday

State Sen. David Ige, a Democratic gubernatorial candidate, will appear at multiple events Tuesday on Maui.

Residents will have the chance to speak with Ige and hear his views on important issues affecting Maui and the entire state, according to a news release from his campaign.

Ige's schedule for Tuesday includes:

* 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. - a meet-and-greet session during the farmers market in the center court at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center.

* 4-5 p.m. - sign-waving in front of Maui Tropical Plantation.

* 5-7:30 p.m. - Mabuhay Night, hosted by the Hawaii State Teachers Association, at Maui Tropical Plantation will include a lechon and pansit dinner, entertainment and door prizes.
