Ngan shares title at Junior World qualifier
Justin Ngan of Wailuku shared medalist honors in the boys 15-17 division of the Callaway Junior World Championships qualifier that took place Saturday and Sunday at the Waikoloa Kings' Course on the Big Island.
Ngan closed with an even-par 72 to finish at 4-over 148, tied with Honolulu's Kyosuke Kevin Hara (73).
Ngan was one of two players from Maui to earn spots in the championship, scheduled for July 14-18 at multiple California courses.
Lana Calibuso-Kwee of Wailuku advanced by finishing second in the girls 11-12 division. Calibuso-Kwee carded a 76 in the second round to finish at 158, five shots behind Jennifer Koga (77) of Honolulu.
Dirt-track races slated for Saturday
Dirt-track races are scheduled for Saturday at Paradise Speedway Maui in Puunene, with time trials beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Spectator gates will open at 3:30 p.m. Spectator admission will cost $12 for adults and $5 for youths 6-12, with no charge for anyone 5 and under.

Kapalua offering youth tennis camps
Kapalua Tennis youth summer camp sessions are scheduled for June 16-18, June 30-July 2, July 14-16, July 28-30 and Aug. 4-6, from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
The camps are for players 7-17 years old of all ability levels. The fee for each three-day session is $130.

Free learn-to-swim classes begin June 17
Maui Swim Club will offer free learn-to-swim classes for youths 4 and older from June 17 to Aug. 25 at Shira-ishi Pool in Kahului.
A mandatory parent meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on June 16 at the pool.

The 32nd annual Baldwin Basketball Backers benefit golf tournament is scheduled for Aug. 10 at Waiehu Municipal Golf Course, with a 6:30 a.m. shotgun start.
