Krueger places second in two races
Jim Krueger of Makawao placed second in the 75-79 division in two swimming events at the Sonoma Wine Country Games on May 31 in Santa Rosa, Calif.
Krueger had a time of 33.21 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, and 46.50 in the 50 breaststroke.
On June 1, he competed in the 1-kilometer race at the Del Valle Open Water Festival in Livermore, Calif., and placed third in the 75-79 division with a time of 32:49.35.
Sherrer aces No. 17 at Elleair
Kristine Sherrer of Balzac, Alberta, recorded a hole-in-one Sunday at Elleair Maui Golf Club in Kihei.
Sherrer aced the 17th hole, using a 6-iron for the 131-yard shot, which was witnessed by Lee Brandon, Randy Ninomiya and Norma Ninomiya.
Pohai Na Keiki Nalu slated for Saturday
The 21st annual Pohai Na Keiki Nalu (Gathering of the Surf Kids) for youths 12 and under is scheduled for Saturday at Launiupoko Beach Park in Lahaina.
Competition is to start at 7 a.m. in the longboard division. Shortboard, bodyboard and stand-up paddling competition is also scheduled. Entrants are limited to two divisions.
Entry forms are available at Honolua Surf Co. stores in Lahaina and Kihei, and Hi-Tech Surf Sports stores in Kahului, Paia, and Kihei. Registration must be completed in advance. The contest has no entry fee, but donations to the Maui Sports Foundation will be accepted.
