Michael Greger, M.D., will give a presentation titled "Combating Diseases with Plants" at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cameron Center in Wailuku.
This Vegetarian Society of Hawaii presentation is free and refreshments will be served. No RSVP is required to attend.
Greger has scoured the world's scholarly literature on clinical nutrition and developed this presentation based on the latest in cutting-edge research, according to a news release.
Greger will run through the dozen reasons people visit doctors to highlight some of the latest research on how a healthy diet can affect some common medical conditions.
A founding member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Greger is a physician, author and internationally recognized speaker on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues. He has lectured at the Conference on World Affairs, testified before Congress, appeared on "The Dr. Oz Show" and "The Colbert Report," and was invited as a witness in the defense of Oprah Winfrey in the "meat defamation" trial.
He is a graduate of Cornell University School of Agriculture and Tufts University School of Medicine.
