Those 21 and older are invited to Maui Arts & Cultural Center's next event in its hugely popular ArT=Mixx series from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday. The best part is, it's free - and it's a ton of fun.
A fusion of performing and visual arts, ArT=Mixx is a mashup of various creative forms, and audiences from all parts of Maui life take part.
The theme this time around is "Bohemian Feminique," honoring women who lead non-conventional lifestyles with creativity and passion.
The event celebrates the current exhibit in Schaefer International Gallery: three concurrent solo displays of women artists, whose bodies of work draw from ideas about counterculture, Bohemianism, sexuality, instinct and playful fantasy.
The artists -Rose Adare, Gabrielle Andermann and May Izumi - will all be in attendance, ready to meet you, talk about their vivid works, and follow the explorations of the evening.
Spilling out from Schaefer gallery, the event takes place throughout the heart of the MACC and also encompasses Yokouchi Pavilion and A&B Amphitheater. Food and beverages will be available throughout the evening, and you may enjoy music and dancing, video art, visual art, performance art, friends and fun.
But this stimulating night is not for kids, so you must show current official photo ID to enter the gates.
Featured in this edition of the ArT=Mixx evening are Maui Roller Girls; Kimberly Dark, writer and performer; Isa Hansen with tribal-fusion belly dancing; artist Melissa Bruck creating a live-scale onsite painting during the event; "Visual Alchemy" video art by Doug Deboer; DJs Charles Oreve and Gabriel E.L.F; and the NLE Dollz as gypsy fortune tellers.
Three's Bar & Grill will roll in its big and beefy food truck ready to crank out tasty snacks all evening long, so you may keep the energy up.
Chef-owners Travis Morrin, Cody Christopher and Jaron Blosser will cook famous signature items from their Kihei restaurant.
Bite into Hurricane french fries, barbecue kalua pork quesadillas, bacon-wrapped hot dogs, and dynamite-style fried mac-and-cheese balls.
On the dessert end of the taste spectrum, Maui Cookie Lady will bake up a storm of cookies and cakes to satisfy every sweet tooth and caloric predilection. A full selection of beverages, both hot and cold, will be available for your sipping pleasure.
Now in its third year, ArT=Mixx is presented by the MACC and sponsored by the County of Maui, conceived as a series of events to bring the 21-and-older adventurers to find their inner Picasso.
Exhibits in the Schaefer International Gallery serve only as a jumping-off point for this interactive social event. Do dress up for the Boho Fantastics Costume Contest and be part of the show.
