Roads will be closed in Makawao town from 8:45 to about 11:30 a.m. Saturday for the 49th Makawao Paniolo Parade.
Closures include Makawao Avenue, from Kokomo to Makani roads; Olinda Road, from Hanamu Road to Makawao town; and Baldwin Avenue, from Kaluanui Road to Makawao town.
Cars in these areas after 8:30 a.m. must immediately drive out of the area.
Residents below Makawao Avenue and on the Pukalani side of Baldwin Avenue may use Maha Road to head toward Pukalani until the parade reaches the area. Ukiu Road will be reopened once the parade passes through.
The theme for this year's parade is "Celebrate the Paniolo." The Hawaiian-style Wild West parade runs from 9 to 11 a.m. and features classic cars, pa'u riders, music and floats. A stick horse race begins at 8:45 a.m.
Public parking will be available at Eddie Tam Memorial Center and Oskie Rice Arena. A free shuttle will be taking visitors parked at the arena into Makawao town before the parade from 7 to 9 a.m.
