I saw the June 28 letter to the editor regarding "New technology needed to hold down costs."
Wasn't there supposed to be a decision by now from the Public Utilities Commission regarding whether they will go ahead with the bidding process to possibly install an undersea cable between Maui and Oahu?
Why is it taking so long for the PUC to make a decision? It seems really simple: If there is an advantage to the cable for all the residents of both islands, then let's see if it is feasible and if it will have any environmental impact.
I thought from the news that it was determined that the review process showed there is a need to look into it more and go to the next step of asking bidders to show us how much it will cost and have a look at any environmental issues.
Let's get this decided one way or another so we can look at ways to save money and use our alternative energy in the most efficient ways.
