Isagawa drops to 17th at women's Publinx

Wailuku's Cassy Isagawa shot an even-par 72 to drop into a tie for 17th after the second round of the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship on Tuesday at DuPont, Wash.

The Baldwin High School alumnus was at 2-under 142 at the Home Course. Isagawa was tied for fifth after the opening round.

Eun Jeong Seong of South Korea shot a 64 on Tuesday to take a four-shot lead at 134.


Keiley fails to make cut at men's Publinx

Haiku's Jameson Keiley shot a second-round 3-over-par 74 and failed to make the cut at the U.S. Men's Amateur Public Links Championship on Monday at Newton, Kan.

The Baldwin High School alumnus finished at 11-over 153 at Sand Creek Station Golf Course.

Four players were tied for the lead at 134.


Teams being sought for coed softball league

Teams are being sought for the South Maui Coed Softball League, which starts its season Aug. 17.

A managers meeting will be held at 5 p.m., Aug. 10 at the South Maui Community Park.

Awai-Dickson in 15th at high school rodeo

Kanoa Awai-Dickson, the Hawaii state all-around cowboy and a rising senior at King Kekaulike High School, currently stands 15th in the first round of steer wrestling at the National High School Rodeo at Rock Springs, Wyo.

Awai-Dickson of Kula finished in 7.47 seconds - Brayden Lelek of Duchess, Alberta, was the first-round leader at 6.43 seconds.


Calibuso-Kwee tied for 54th at Callaway golf

Wailuku's Lana Calibuso-Kwee shot a 10-over-par 83 in the girls 11-12 division during the first round of the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships on Tuesday at San Diego.

Yealimi Noh of Concord, Calif., leads by two shots after a 66 at Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort.
