‘Legally Blonde’ is a nonstop, high-energy romp that will have you smiling from start to finish

STAGE REVIEW

July 17, 2014
By MICHAEL PULLIAM (mauibackstage@gmail.com) , Special to The Maui News

The good news regarding "Legally Blonde: the Musical" is that it's a nonstop, high-energy romp that will have you smiling from start to finish. The bad news is, you will have "Omigod You Guys" stuck in your head for several days. Productions of this specific scale are rarely attempted on Maui for good reason. "Blonde" demands constant scene changes; it needs to run about 100 miles per hour; and the dance numbers are so massive that on occasion, the Iao stage isn't quite big enough.

Fact Box

Maui OnStage is presenting "Legally Blonde: The Musical," at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 3 at the Historic Iao Theater in Wailuku town. The play is directed by Justin House, it's choreographed by Erin Kowalick and musically directed by Vania Jerome. The tickets range from $17 to $28.
