The Hawaii Alpha Delta Kappa Gamma Chapter recently awarded scholarships to five students of the Maui public schools' class of 2014. The recipients were honored at the chapter's April meeting.
The three recipients of the $1,000 scholarship were Maile Altier and Jessa Emmerich from Lahaninaluna High School and Wendy Pias from Maui High School.
Altier is the daughter of Mark and Rebecca Altier. She will attend Oregon State University and major in biology.

Emmerich is the daughter of Kellee and Bradly Emmerich. She will attend Lee University, and her major is undecided.
Pias is the daughter of Tony and Yollie Pias. She will attend University of Hawaii at Manoa and major in biology.
The chapter also awarded two $600 scholarships to graduates who will attend the University of Hawaii Maui College. Aileen Ballesteros from King Kekaulike High School and Jeanette Pasalo from Maui High School were the recipients. Ballesteros plans to major in pre-business. She is the daughter of Alex and Elene Ballesteros. Pasalo, daughter of Dominador and Mirazon Pasalo, plans to major in nursing.
Founded in 1947, Alpha Delta Kappa is an international honorary sorority for women educators.
Members are dedicated to improving education and the teaching profession, increasing world understanding through cultural exchanges, and making a difference in their communities through volunteer service.
