Two-time Grammy Award winner Bill Champlin brought his "Solo Sessions" tour to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's McCoy Theater on Sunday night, accompanied on several songs by his singer/songwriter wife, Tamara Champlin. He played some of his popular tunes and offered back stories on songwriting and how his recording "In the Heat of the Night" got picked up by the TV show of the same name. Since leaving the band Chicago after 28 years, Champlin has pursued his solo act, highlighted by his newest release of "No Place Left to Fall." He also has recently performed with his former band, The Sons of Champlin, a group that came out of the San Francisco rock scene of the 1960s.
