Johnston finishes 57th in Ironman division
Becca Johnston of Lahaina finished 57th in the female 40-44 division at the Ironman Canada Triathlon on Saturday at Whistler, British Columbia.
Johnston, 40, finished in 14 hours, 30 minutes, 41 seconds. It was her first Ironman and first triathlon.
Johnston completed the 2.4-mile swim in 1:25:56, 112-mile bike in 7:35:32 and the 26.2-mile run in 5:21:26.
Elftman-Hanson tied for 60th at Junior PGA
Wailuku's Ariel Elftman-Hanson shot a 6-over-par 77 and is tied for 60th after Wednesday's second round of the Junior PGA Championship at Bryan, Texas.
Elftman-Hanson is at 13-over 155 at Miramont Country Club.
Gordon Neale of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., leads at 6-under 136.
Larsen eliminated from U.S. Open of Surfing
Granger Larsen of Lahaina was eliminated in the second round of the Vans U.S. Open of Surfing on Wednesday at Huntington Beach, Calif.
Larsen finished last in his four-man heat with a two-wave score of 14.10.
Bede Durbidge scored a 15.30, Garrett Parkes had a 15.26 and Julian Wilson posted a 14.27. All three surfers are from Australia.
Easter wins $10K for hole-in-one at Pukalani
Bodhi Easter of Pukalani won $10,000 for a hole-in-one on Saturday in the Going Green on the Greens golf tournament at Pukalani Country Club.
Easter used a 4-iron to ace the 154-yard eighth hole. The $10,000 prize was sponsored by Rodeo General Store in Makawao.
"I hit a good shot and the ball started at the green, it took two hops and disappeared," Easter said in a press release.
The event was the first tournament fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui.
The hole-in-one was witnessed by about 10 people.
