Krueger competes in world masters
James Krueger of Makawao finished 13th in the 50-meter freestyle at the FINA World Masters swimming championships Wednesday in Montreal, after a 17th-place finish in the 100 free two days earlier.
Krueger had a time of 37.16 seconds in the 50, and finished the 100 in 1:36.55.
Brousseau earns PGA educational recognition
Lahaina resident Claude Brousseau, the Director of Instruction at Claude Brousseau Golf Academy, has earned the top educational designation the PGA awards to its members, completing the Master Professional Program 2.0.
Brousseau has been a golf instructor for more than 16 years, and was named the Aloha Section PGA Teacher of the Year in 2008.
His master designation is in teaching and coaching.
Four from Maui receive martial art promotions
The U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation has completed four promotions for Maui martial artists.
Gina Kim was promoted to first-degree cho-dan, Dakota Welch and Kaumaka Roback were each promoted to orange-belt eighth gup and Aaron Rohozinski received a promotion to green-belt fifth gup.
Beach volleyball team earns bronze medal
Danielle Brown of Kula and Amy Ozee of Haiku earned bronze medals in the 18-and-under division of the AAU Beach Volleyball Pan Pacific Championships on July 22 in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
The duo advanced out of a five-team pool and reached the semifinals before bowing out, and shared third place with Arizona's Madeline Mertz and Madalyn Roh.
