An answer worth a thousand words

The Maui News
Retired Maui photographer Richard Kutsunai (right) shows a photo to Toronto honeymooners Michael and Adrienne Krygier-Baum on Thursday afternoon outside the parking booth at Iao Valley State Park. Now working as a parking attendant at the park, Kutsunai formerly ran Kutsunai Photo Studio in Kahului after taking over the business started by his father. He still enjoys sharing his work and displays a handful of color 8-by-10-inch prints outside the booth. The pictures feature Kutsunai’s handwritten answers to some of the more common questions park visitors ask on a daily basis. The Krygier-Baums said they spent the first part of their wedding trip on the Big Island, arriving just in time for the arrival of Hurricane Iselle. Where they stayed in Kailua-Kona saw little impact, they said. “We didn’t even get wet,” Adrienne said.
