American Red Cross aiding 7 victims of Lahaina house fire
The American Red Cross is assisting seven people who were displaced by a house fire in Lahaina on Saturday.
The fire at 908 Kana Place was reported at 5:29 p.m. and extinguished at 11:28 p.m., Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said. The fire caused $700,000 in damage to the single-family, two-story structure and $200,000 in damage to the home's contents. The cause of the blaze was undetermined.
Mainaga reported that there were no injuries.
Volunteers at the scene on Saturday attended to the immediate emergency needs of the house's residents, making sure they had shelter, food and clothing, according to a news release from the American Red Cross.
Fun run added to events planned for 92nd Maui Fair
A "Fab Fair Fun Run" at War Memorial Stadium has been added to the list of events for the 92nd Maui Fair.
The fun run will be from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Oct. 4.
The Maui Fair will be held Oct. 2-5 at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku.
Run participants are encouraged to "walk, run, crawl, skip, stroll or hop" and will receive a glow bracelet for each completed lap on the stadium's track as a clock ticks down from 45 minutes, according to a news release.
Participants will receive a T-shirt and entry into the Maui Fair. The registration cost is $20 per person through Sept. 20 and $25 per person from Sept. 21 to Oct. 4. To register, go to www.active.com and search for "Fab Fair Fun Run."

Central Pacific Bank has a hurricane assistance loan program to help residents on Maui affected by Tropical Storm Iselle.
The program features low interest rates, flexible loan terms, reduced monthly payments, fast approval and quick funding, according to a news release. Loan amounts range from $1,000 to $15,000 with terms up to 48 months.
