The Maui News

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Defensive tackle Tevita Finau, bidding to make the New York Jets' roster, started and had three tackles in the team's preseason finale on Thursday, a 37-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 28-year-old Finau, a Kahuku High School graduate who played at Lahainaluna and Maui High, had two tackles on defense and one on punt coverage. He totaled six tackles, including a sack, in four preseason games.

Teams' 53-player rosters must be finalized by Saturday.

Finau

Finau was one of the Jets' final cuts last year. He has also had practice-squad stints with the Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals, but has not played in a regular-season NFL game.

Cody Parkey kicked field goals of 54, 53 and 25 yards for Philadelphia (2-2), increasing the rookie's chances of beating Alex Henery for a roster spot.

The Jets (2-2) used Michael Vick on the first play from scrimmage - he handed off to Daryl Richardson, then was replaced by Matt Simms.
