It makes me BARF to think that LINDA LINGLE would use over $$$$ 40 MILLION DOLLARS of HAWAIIs taxpayers dollars to PROTECT the Stupor Ferry from going into bankruptcy! Meanwhile, LINDA LINGLE did absolutely NOTHING to help ALOHA AIRLINES, a company that has been a part of our community for 61 YEARS! LINDA LINGLE did not even offer words of condolences to Aloha Airlines or their Employees and families! Three years ago, Aloha approached LINGLE and asked for help with the rising fuel costs and taxes, LINDA LINGLE DID NOTHING! Again, she tries to shove another one of her "ideas" down our throats! WAKE UP TAX PAYERS, THE STUPER FERRY IS NOT the ANSWER to Hawaii's inter Island TRANSPORTATION PROBLEMS! We NEED to unite together with ex employees and families of ALOHA AIRLINES and Demand that the State/Department of Transportation help us get ALOHA BACK in our Islands!

We arrive every August from Washington State to enjoy 2 weeks at the same condo (same owner) we've had for over 10 years. We help clean various beaches and keep our existence minimal during our stay. We come to enjoy Hawaiians, their culture and the incredible beauty Maui has to offer. We are not rich, we work extra overtime just to make our annual trip and will continue to do so. Those of us who love Maui will find ways to continue to come back. Mahalo Maui for welcoming us back every year.

No one likes it when they lose their hard earned money. Everyone that had purchased tickets on Aloha or ATA has two choices: 1. Pay for airfare a second time; 2. Cancel. The next few months will reveal what was decided. Given the current state of the economy, those of you who rely on tourist dollars should prepare yourself for option 2.

Your very first impact will be those that will take advantage of any situation created by these unfortunate departures of good companies. In my and my familes case our yearly vacation to Maui has been completely called off, as five of us had tickets on ATA this coming April 29th. Our unfortuate situation is in the renting of a local Condo and now that we gave the person 27 days notice that we have to cancel our vacation, this person will not reimburse us our $1700.00, which was not part of our agreement. This person said they were not returning our money because they would now be out - even with 27 days notice. I tell them they are already out, "Their Selfrespect - Their Decency and any sense of Honesty." I hope the word gets out on this individual for it leaves one bitter right now. I will concentrate on Helen thou. A beatuful lady I meet not this last time over but the time before last. As I walked Upper Kula, she invited this stranger into her home and tought me Maui hos

Hawai'i isn't the only state in a pinch. All the places where ATA and Aloha flew and made connections will be impacted. I've talked to a lot of people here on the mainland and many of them who in past years have planned trips to out-of-state or international destinations are curbing back on those types of vacation opportunities. Many of my friends and their families are planning to keep their vacations in state or connected at near by states. When mainland visitors see the cost of a ticket they see money lost for doing activities and eating out.
