God is love. These people want to express their love in marriage. Jesus pointed out the hypocrisy of the religious. That was a big part of His mission on this earth. Jesus sad the first shall be last and the last shall be first. Gay people are the salt of the earth, how do the religious miss this? If irony were a bright light, the irony surrounding this issue would be brighter than the sun. God is love. Can't we all just get along?

Example: Bill and Joe bring their kid to meet first grade teacher. The teacher says nice to meet you Pat. Are you a boy or girl? I don't know my daddies never told me. Opens another problem down the road with children and their mental well being. Had to point this out as I have some of the kids the same sex people are raising and they are mixed up and acting out their confusion, and not in a good way.

It is REAL simple...Everyone currently has the same right, the right to marry a person of the opposite sex who is old enough to consent to the marriage as long as both are not currently married. What the homosexuals are asking for is a special right, just like if someone wanted the "right" to marry when they were already married, or asking for the "right" to marry a person of the opposite sex who isn't old enough to consent to the marriage. Don't be fooled by the "equality" or "right to marry" argument. Homosexuals already have the same rights as heterosexuals, they want special rights.

Its REAL simple folks. If YOU have a right- than everyone should have the right. The majority of people who ALREADY have the rights do NOT get a say in the minorities right. That's NOT EQUAL rights. Shame on all of the hate coming from the people of Hawaii. One day you will look as ignorant as the people who thought women had NO right to vote. EQUAL RIGHTS NOW!!

Yes, they already had their agenda and are ignoring what the people want. We just want a chance to vote on it ourselves, that's what a democracy is. So what's next? What happens when another minority group wants to have multiple wives? Are we infringing on their "civil rights" When will it end? God said love your neighbor but hate the sin and he said it is a sin. The Bible tells of an adulterer being kicked out of the church, so we're supposed to let in Homosexuals, when God clearly states they will not enter his kingdom? We all are sinners in some way, but we don't try to make our sins legal.

I see a lot of emotional comments, but here's the facts. The peoples comments on this bill ran at least 15 to 1 against it. A judge and two lawyers told the committees that if sb1 passes as written there will be a lot of litigation. The bill is flawed and should be voted down at this time. To do otherwise just proves that this legislature just has an agenda.

If you don't want gay marriage, don't be gay and don't get married. There are REAL crimes being committed and LAWS being broken every second that could use our attention.

Although the homosexual is thought to not hurt anyone that is not absolutley true. What they are asking for are the rights to marry. The definition of marriage is a union between one man and woman. By allowing this bill to pass this will automatically restructure the family structure causing more issues in our socitey ultimetly leading to harm to what is natural and proven.

Same-sex relationships are an important part of our most traditional Hawaiian culture. The 'ohana or extended family often included same-sex relationships.
The special word for the people in these relationships was Aikane, but the Hawaiians used other words such as ho'okamaka and lawakua.
Captain Cook and his crews first noticed this when they met some of the aikane of the chiefs on Kaua'i, Maui, and the Big Island. In fact, some of the Hawaiians asked the sailors to become their aikane!
Most of the ruling chiefs, including Kamehameha the Great, had several aikane in their households. Sometimes children were raised specifically to enter the royal household and become the aikane of the chief.

You have to wonder... Who would oppose two people who are in love wanting to marry one another? Who would want to keep these people from happiness? Jesus? Or Satan?
@LrnNUlu -- Thank you for your kind words but I feel that I must correct one thing. We do not "choose" to be gay. Who would choose such a path in life? I came out to my parents when I was 18. They disowned me. My mother didn't speak to me for more than 23 years. She met my partner FOR THE FIRST TIME one week after we'd celebrated our 20th anniversary. If I could have chosen to be straight, don't you think I would have?!?! So many lost years but thankfully my mother and I patched things up. She got to know my man and grew to love him. Sadly, she passed away last year. She won't be here to celebrate our 25th anniversary next year, but I know she's smiling down on us from heaven.

What about the Aloha spirit?! Do we think that these malihini care about our ‘Aina or ‘Ohana? Do we get to vote on taking those away, too? Some things u cant vote away, like our values of love and acceptance! The malihini that are trying to prevent gays from marrying don't care about any of that. Aloha doesn't mean "except" and the values that the malihini represent aren't Hawai'ian but you wouldnt know that listening to them act like they were born on the island with their values.

I sent a message to the Hawaii State Legislature - Kina'ole!!! doing the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, in the right place, to the people, for the right reason, with the right feeling...THE FIRST TIME!! Trash SB1 "Silly Bill 1", and send it BACK TO THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PROPLE, and BY THE PEOPLE!! This snap to judgment "Special Ruse Session" is the biggest diabolic lie to hit our shores!!! Justice shall prevail only when THE PEOPLE have their FREEDOM TO VOTE on what shall be the law of the 'aina!!!

The gays and lesbians are born from people like you. What a shame. I mean there not born gay or lesbian its just the path they choose in life. And who they choose to love or marry. Just leave them alone already and let these laws past. There are far more worst things going on in this world then some lesbians and gays wanting to marry the ones they love.
